Electro-pop darling CAPPA has returned with her infectious new single 'Sux'. Packed with self-confident lyricism as well as punchy, buoyant, and instantly intoxicating, CAPPA delivers the perfect empowering breakup anthem. She took a moment to speak to us about her latest track as well as what we can expect from her and a few other things which you can read about in our interview with her below:
MHB: Can you introduce yourself to our readers? Where are you from? What do you do?
CAPPA: My name is CAPPA, I’m an artist and songwriter originally from Philadelphia and recently moved to LA :)
MHB: How is it that music become a part of your life?
CAPPA: Music is basically the central point of everything I do! I have a hard time doing things if it’s not for music purposes.
MHB: When was it that you realized you wanted to be a singer?
CAPPA: When I was 7!
MHB: How would you describe your sound to a new listener?
CAPPA: It’s upbeat, empowering alternative pop music
MHB: Can you tell me a little about your creative process? Is there a routine or is it constantly changing?
CAPPA: It’s constantly changing just depending on who I’m working with and what I’m going through at the time, but I do usually start with melody no matter what. I try to write several songs a week no matter what. It keeps me constantly practicing.
MHB: What can you tell me about your latest single 'Sux'? what was the inspiration behind it?
CAPPA: It’s a pretty honest song. I went through a rough breakup after a long term relationship. I wanted the song to feel empowering though and encouraging that you can come out on the other side of it.
MHB: As this is your final release of this year, what can we expect from you this new year and what are you looking forward to in the new year?
CAPPA: I’m planning on releasing lots of new tunes! I have a remix for “SUX” coming which I really love, and then will be releasing a bunch of singles leading up to an EP.
MHB: What do you want people to take away from your music?
CAPPA: I want people to really be able to relate to it. I hope that it reaches people where they’re at and are able to get some encouragement from it that someone else is going through the same thing.
MHB: If you were given the opportunity to collaborate with one artist who would you choose and why?
CAPPA: I’m obsessed with Jon Bellion right now. I’d love to work with him.
MHB: Which artists are you currently listening to/would recommend?
CAPPA: Jon Bellion! I think he’s a genius.
MHB: Can you share one random fact about yourself?
CAPPA: I’m obsessed with rescue dogs :)
MHB: What does music mean to you?
CAPPA: Music means so much to me. It helped me find an identity growing up and through high school and basically keeps me excited about life.
MHB: Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
